German scrap market expects better demand in January
German scrap prices increased in December due to higher exports amid demand from countries outside the EU, say local market participants. Sources now expect there could be some increases in January after the New Year holidays.
“The year ended with an unexpectedly strong increase in scrap prices on the German steel scrap market amid exports to Turkey, where steel producers' buying interest increased,” a buyer told Kallanish last week.
