Zimbabwe eyes coking coal amid mining drive
Zimbabwe is opening new coal mines that will allow the country to meet its energy needs and later export the fuel, Reuters reports. Among these will be new coking coal mines that will supply steelmakers.
To get to the coking coal in Hwange, mining companies first have to go through deposits of thermal coal, which is burned to produce energy, the agency quotes finance minister Mthuli Ncube as saying.
