Zhongyu Smelting revives RKEF production
On 2 September, Zhongyu Smelting Company in Huaihua city in China's Hunan Province revived production at a 12,500-KVA rotary kiln electric furnace (RKEF), Kallanish notes.
Zhongyu Smelting owns two 125,000-KVA RKEFs. Both of them were under refurbishment not long ago and one RKEF still lacks its environmental assessment. It estimates to increase high-carbon ferrochrome production by 24,000 tonnes/year by restarting the furnace.
