Baosteel to light Zhanjiang No 2 blast furnace
Baosteel’s new Zhanjiang steelworks plans to light its No 2 blast furnace on 15 July, according to local media reports monitored by Kallanish.
BF No 2 is identical to the site’s No 1 blast furnace with a volume of 5050 cubic metres and 4.31 million tonnes/year of hot metal production and has a 22-year service life. The company has invested CNY 12.5 billion ($1.87 billion) on BF No 1 and plans to invest the same amount in BF 2.
