Xinjiang steel mills cut output on high inventories
Steelmakers in China's northwestern Xinjiang province have announced they will cut production in the first week of June to reduce local supply pressures.
Seven local steel mills suspended blast furnaces or building materials production lines, while Da'an Iron & Steel, the only one that kept all lines running, promised that its products would not be used for local sales in Xinjiang. The shutdown is estimated to reduce over 100,000 tonnes of market …
