Worthington sees sales uptick in first quarter
US service centre chain and pressure cylinder fabricator Worthington Industries saw a boost in its fiscal first quarter sales from heavy truck and agriculture, though automotive remains weak, Kallanish reports.
In the quarter ended 31 August, Worthington earned a net income of $45.5 million on sales of $842.2m, down from fiscal Q1 2017 earnings of $65.6m on sales of $737.5m. The company attributes the discrepancy to Q1 2017 inventory holding gains.
