Wire rod import market inches up in Philippines
The low-carbon wire rod import market in ASEAN remains quiet, Kallanish notes.
Offers for Chinese mesh-grade 6.5mm diameter wire rod are at about the same as last week, at $525-535/tonne cfr Manila. These offers are lower-priced than offers from the larger Chinese mills because they are generally believed to be shipped without full-payment of VAT. Trading sources are unclear of deals taking place during the week.
