Western Australia raises Port Hedland fees
The Western Australian state government will lift fees at Port Hedland in the Pilbara by 25%, pushing Port Hedland state port costs to AUD 0.45/tonne based on 540 million tonnes/year of exports through the port, Kallanish notes.
The fees will not be reduced as iron ore prices ease, as this is a fixed cost. An additional AUD 195 million ($151m) is expected to be raised by the port over the next four years.
