Weak demand, scrap uncertainty lowers Turkish rebar prices
Turkish mills’ rebar export quotes have softened to $635-645/tonne fob Turkey actual weight amid weak demand. The fall in scrap prices and uncertainty over the actual market level are causing finished steel buyers to follow a wait-and-see stance.
The mills that are utilised for longer, however, are seen offering at above these levels. Although there are rumours of new rebar sales to Hong Kong and Singapore, they are denied by the sellers, Kallanish notes.
