Vietnam's steel exports jump, imports slip in 2021
Vietnam's steel industry achieved an increase in exports in 2021, but the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic led to a contraction in domestic demand and a decline in imports.
Kallanish learns from Vietnam Customs data that steel exports reached 11.71 million tonnes in 2021, a 27% increase from 9.24mt in 2020. However, export volumes dropped by 20% to 809,983 tonnes in December 2021 from 1.02mt in November.
