Vietnam’s January steel trade weakens, scrap import hikes
In January Vietnam has saw a decline in cross-border trade of iron and steel. Scrap imports still achieved growth despite the Tet lunar new year holiday, Kallanish learns.
Monthly steel exports totalled 672,186 tonnes, which was down 18.3% from December and 14.8% year-on-year, according to preliminary data from the Vietnam Customs. The average realised price, meanwhile, dropped 38.5% y-o-y to $680/tonne.
