Vietnam commissions new steelworks

Cao Bang Iron and Steel in northern Vietnam has commissioned its first 220,000 tonnes/year of steelmaking capacity, local media reports. The VND 1.9 million ($85 million) project is designed to use locally mined iron ore, Kallanish notes. The project made its first steel on 13 October and includes a sinter plant, blast furnace and basic oxygen furnace.
