Vale's Middle Eastern shipments surge
Brazilian-headquartered Vale’s iron ore and pellet shipments in the Middle East soared 77% on-year in the fourth quarter of 2018 to 4.15 million tonnes. This was also up 16% on Q3. The region accounted for 4.3% of Vale’s consolidated shipments in Q4 compared to 2.5% in the year-earlier quarter.
In full-year 2018 Vale’s Middle East shipments thus rose 52% on-year 12.3mt, accounting for 3.37% of consolidated sales versus 2.36% in 2017.
