Vale to resume ferroalloy mining in Canada

Brazilian diversified metals and mining firm Vale plans to resume operations in July at its Voisey’s Bay deposit in Canada, Kallanish reports.  The nickel and copper mining at Voisey’s was halted in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Nickel is the largest cost component for stainless steel and makes up the bulk of stainless surcharges.  Vale expects the restart to be conducted on a sliding scale, with full production beginning in Aug…
