Vale halts mining operation in Brumadinho
Brazil’s Vale tells Kallanish it has temporarily halted operations of the waste and tailings pile at its Esperança mine in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais State. The miner took the preventative measure soon after taking control of Ferrous Group, which owns the mine.
“The preventive measure has been taken to carry out a technical assessment. Currently, works to increase the pile safety are underway,” Vale explains.
