Vale installs energy storage system at Guaíba port
Brazilian miner Vale says it is advancing towards greater electric power self-sufficiency by installing one of the country's largest battery energy storage systems (BESS) at Ilha Guaíba Port.
The technology is set to reduce the electric energy cost of the port by almost -20%. This will be done by substituting the electrical grid supply during peak demand periods when the tariff is more expensive, Kallanish learns from the miner.
