Vale gets more time to make reparatory deposit
Brazilian iron ore miner Vale tells Kallanish that it has been granted an extension for making a deposit to safeguard against future reparatory measures against Samarco Mineração S.A.
Vale and its joint venture partner in Samarco, Australia’s BHP Billiton, are in the throes of legal action taken by the Brazilian authorities following a tailings dam accident in November 2015 (see Kallanish passim).
