Vale begins construction of ‘green’ pig iron plant
Vale has begun constructing a new pig iron plant in Marabá, Kallanish notes. The mining company and the Pará state government kicked off the project in an official ceremony held on 5 April.
The plant, located at the former Ferro Gusa Carajás facilities, will have an initial capacity to produce 250,000 tonnes/year of “green” pig iron, with the possibility of reaching 500,000 t/y in the future. Commissioning is scheduled for 2025. Th…
