Uzbekistan launches new Chinese steel mill joint venture
Uzbek and Chinese investors have commissioned the first stage of a steel plant in Uzbekistan’s Namangan region, says the regional administration.
Namangan Metallurgiya Zavodi (NMZ) will produce over 300,000 tonnes/year of long products, Kallanish notes. The total investment amounts to $50 million.
The project will be implemented in three stages, the first of which saw $28m spent for the launch of the firm, of which $15m is direct Chinese investment.
