USSK's first-quarter shipments, earnings drop on-year, rebound on-quarter
US Steel Kosice (USSK) saw steel shipments drop 20% on-year in the first quarter to 883,000 net tons; however, raw steel production inched up 0.3% to 1.09 million nt, giving capacity utilisation of 89%.
Average realised selling price fell 18% to $909/nt, with net sales down 33% to $844 million and Ebit at negative $34m versus positive $264m a year earlier.
