USS uses Granite City line to facilitate repairs
US Steel plans to bring its Granite City, Illinois, hot strip mill online while it makes periodic repairs and upgrades to its lines in Gary, Indiana; Detroit, Michigan; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The Granite City blast furnace and steelmaking assets were idled in December 2015 and the hot-strip mill in January “… due to challenging global market conditions,” the company says.
