USS permanently idles coke battery in air-pollution agreement
US Steel (USS) has permanently shuttered a coke battery at its Mon Valley Works in Pennsylvania as part of an air-pollution agreement with local agencies, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based steelmaker confirms to Kallanish.
“Battery #15 was permanently idled, as part of the consent decree,” USS states in an email to Kallanish on Friday. “The battery had been hot idled since 2020.”
