US total, shipped steel increased in 2019
The US steel industry saw on-year growth in 2019, both in terms of shipments and raw output, while import share declined, Kallanish learns from a statistical report by the American Iron and Steel Institute.
The report notes that US steel shipments reached a total of 96.1 million short tons in 2019, up 0.9% from 2018. Raw steel production was 96.7m st, up 1.3% from 2018.
