US total imports slip -8% on-year
US total imports appear to be down significantly on-year through April, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing Census Bureau data, the institute puts total imports through April at 11.489 million short tons, 8.067m st of which was finished – or down -7.8% and -17%, respectively, from last year.
In April, the US imported 3.304m st, 2.011m st of which was finished. That is up 45.5% and 8.1% from March’s final tallie…
