US total imports fall in 2018
US imports appear to have slipped in 2018, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing Census Bureau data, the institute puts December imports at 1.898 million short tons, 1.679m st of which was finished steel. That is down -20.4% and -12.6%, respectively, from November’s tally.
Full-year imports were 33.731m st, 25.694m st of which were finished – down -11.5% and -13.1%, respectively, from 2017.
