US tariffs hamper Al Ghurair galv exports
Al Ghurair Iron and Steel (AGIS)’s exports to the US will be hampered by new 25% tariffs on steel imports, AGIS chief executive Abu Bucker Husain confirms to Kallanish. The Abu Dhabi-based cold roller and galvanizer has lobbied the economy ministry to negotiate relief with the US.
AGIS’s nameplate hot-dip galvanized coil capacity is 400,000 tonnes/year, but the firm achieved production of 500,000 t/y in 2017, of which 20% was shipped to the US.
