US Steel signs new electricity agreement in Minnesota
US Steel has inked a new five-year electrical power deal with Minnesota Power for its Minntac and Keetac taconite plants in the state’s Iron Range, Kallanish reports.
The deal will remain in effect through December 2021.
US Steel is the largest Iron Range taconite producer with a total production capacity of about 22 million short tons. The company also holds a 14.7% interest in Hibbing Taconite, which itself can produce 9.1m st.
