July steel shipments slip in US

US steel shipments appear to have dropped off in July, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute. US steel mill shipments fell -3.6% from June to 7.35 million short tons. That figure is down -3.2% from July 2015, Kallanish notes. Both hot-rolled and cold-rolled sheet shipments fell -5% month on month, while hot-dipped galvanized sheet shipments fell -8%. Year-to-date shipments stand at 51.49m st, down -0.2% from the equivalent period last year.
