US steel shipments increase in August
US steel mill shipments climbed by more than 6% from July to August, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US steel mills shipped 8.44 million short tons in August, up 6.7% from July and up 6.5% from August 2017.
Hot-rolled and cold-rolled sheet shipments both climbed 3%, while hot-dipped galvanized sheet shipments increased 11%.
Year-to-date shipments totaled 63.66m st, up 4.6% from the same period last year.
