US steel production ticks up ahead of holiday
US raw steel production rose on-week in the week ended 5 September but remains down significantly on-year, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US raw steel production stands at 1.428 million short tons at 63.7% capability utilisation, up 3.3% from last week - when utilisation was 61.7% - but down 21.2% from the equivalent week last year, when utilisation was 78%.
