US HRC buyers predict lower prices ahead
US sheet mills are showing an increased desire to negotiate, learns Kallanish from a service centre source with close ties to major US steel mills.
Earlier in the week, multiple market sources confirmed HRC prices ranging $1,400-1,500/short ton. Since that time, a source has been contacted by mills to negotiate more favourable rates. One mill cited a desire to put their steel in an undisclosed brand of EV as its impetus for negotiating, he says.
