US steel mill shipments perk up
US steel mill shipments increased 3.1% from April to May for a total of 7.66 million short tons – roughly equal to May 2016’s shipment level.
Year-to-date shipments stand at 37.72m st, up 3.3% on year, Kallanish notes.
Hot-rolled coil shipments increased by 4% from April to May. Cold-rolled shipments increased 3%, and hot-dipped galvanized shipments remained flat.
