December US steel, materials imports decline on-year
US imports of steelmaking materials increased month-on-month in December to $9.93 billion, but that figure was lower than December 2022, Kallanish learns from a US Census Bureau and Bureau of Economic Analysis press release.
December imports were up 24.3% m-o-m and down 25.7% year-on-year. US iron and steel product imports were up 10.8% m-o-m in December, but down 11.3% y-o-y to $12.6 billion.
