US Steel Kosice restarts blast furnace
US Steel Kosice (USSK) has restarted blast furnace no.1, meaning it is again operating with two blast furnaces, the firm tells Kallanish.
It declined to comment on whether the move was spurred by improving demand.
BF1 was idled in early December due to high energy costs and low demand. The firm announced then that the downtime would last till early 2023. The firm’s BF2 remains idle since September. BF3 remains in operation.
