US steel imports fall on year
US steel imports are down about -14% on-year through August, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Total imports so far in 2019 are 20.668 million short tons, 15.321m st of which have been finished. That’s down -13.6% and -15.9%, respectively, from the equivalent period in 2018.
August’s total imports alone reached 2m st, 1.783m st of which were finished – down -34% and -3.4%, respectively, from August 2018.
