US Steel continues Clairton fire investigation
Fire repair and investigate work continue at US Steel’s Clairton, Pennsylvania, coke battery, but overall steel production has not been affected, the company says.
US Steel recently provided an update on the fire that struck the Clairton control room on 24 December, attributing it now to a mechanical failure.
“Due to the significant structural damage of the buildings, safety is paramount as we complete the investigation,” the company says.
