US Steel appeals county's emissions enforcement order
US Steel has appealed an enforcement order from the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD), saying compliance with the order will jeopardise worker safety, Kallanish reports.
On Thursday, ACHD ordered the company to reduce the use of coke oven gas and limit daily sulphur dioxide (SO2) emissions until repairs at Clairton Coke Works have been completed. The plant was damaged by a fire on 24 December. On Friday, the company appealed the order.
