US Steel announces Gary blast furnace schedules
US Steel has now brought two of three blast furnaces back online at its Gary, Indiana, works following an outage caused by a service water pipe break on 26 November, Kallanish learns from a company statement.
Blast furnaces #14 and #6 are now operational, with the third - #4 – expected to come online early next week, the statement says.
The company notes that none of the blast furnaces were damaged as a result of the pipe break and subsequent flooding. …
