US Steel accelerates Clairton coke works repairs
US Steel has moved its repair schedule for its Clairton, Pennsylvania, coke plant up by one month, Kallanish learns from a company statement.
The Clairton plant was damaged by a fire on 24 December, resulting in a loss of the plant’s ability to remove certain pollutants from its coke production waste products. This resulted in an order from the Allegheny County Health Department to immediately reduce emissions.
