US scrap market remains firm
After decreasing sharply in July and softening further in August, US scrap prices have recorded increases in September trading. A recovery in US mill demand has seen Midwest prices, which in recent months remained behind prices in the US South, close the gap between the regions.
Market participants are seen to be keeping their bullish outlook for October prices due to higher finished steel prices and the US mill demand rebound, Kallanish notes.
