US scrap market expectations remain firm
Approaching May trading, market participants remain bullish about US domestic scrap prices.
A US scrap supplier tells Kallanish: "There is no possibility of a downward trend. Prices will go up for prime scrap, that’s for sure, and for obsolete grades, they may go sideways or upward.”
Some suppliers are seen expecting to see a change in price dynamics as the spread between shredded and prime grades has hit historical highs.
