US scrap exports hit new high
US ferrous scrap exports reached their highest levels since 2014 last year, Kallanish learns from the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries.
Total ferrous scrap exports rose 23% year on year to 13.8 million tonnes with an estimated value of $4.1 billion.
Destination countries with notable increases include Bangladesh, imports to which rose 111%; Vietnam, 93%; and China, 60%.
