The US rig count posted another net loss in the week ended 22 April, while the Canadian rig count was unchanged, Kallanish learns from energy services company Baker Hughes.

The US rig count fell by nine to 431, down 501 from last year.

Rigs geared for oil production fell by eight, while rigs geared for natural gas production fell by one.

Texas led the notable losses by state with seven, followed by Louisiana and Ohio with one apiece. No state posted a net rig gain.

The Canadian count remained static at 40, down 39 from last year’s equivalent count.
