US raw steel slides on week
US raw steel production slipped slightly in the week ended 4 August from the previous week but remains up big from the equivalent week last year, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US raw steel production stands at 1.828 million short tons at a capability utilisation of 78% - down -0.4 from the preceding week, when capability utilisation was 78.3%, but up 4.3% from the equivalent week last year, when capability utilisation was 75.2%.
