US raw steel production ticks up
US raw steel production rose both week on week and year on year in the week ended March 26, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US raw steel production rose 0.4% from last week to 1.675 million short tons at 71.6% average capability utilisation. The average capability utilisation last week was 71.3.
Steel production is likewise up 4.6% from the equivalent week last year, when the average capability utilisation was 67.7%.
