US raw steel production slips week-on-week
US raw steel production fell slightly week-on-week in the seven days ended 22 December, but it remains up significantly year-on-year, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US raw steel production stands at 1.87 million short tons at 79.8% capacity utilisation, down -1.1% from the previous week, when utilisation was 80.6%. This is up however by 11.6% from the equivalent week last year, when utilisation was 71.9%.
