US raw steel production ratchets up on-week
US raw steel production increased week on week in the week ended 16 January but slipped year-on-year, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US raw steel production stands at 1.707 million short tons at 73.2% capability utilisation. Thi is up 3.5% from the previous week, when utilisation was 70.7%, but down -1.7% from the equivalent week last year, when utilisation was 74.5%.
