US raw steel production increases on week, year
US raw steel production rose both on week and on year in the week ended 23 March, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US raw steel production stands at 1.934 million short tons at 83.1% capability utilisation, up 0.2% from the previous week, when utilisation was 82.9%, and up 5.9% from the equivalent week last year, when utilisation was 78.3%.
The South led production by region with 737,000 st, followed by the Great Lakes with 716,000…
