US raw steel production inches down
US raw steel production experienced a slight decline in the week ended 24 October, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Production fell 0.5% week on week to 1.667 million short tons with an average capability utilisation of 69.7%, Kallanish learns. In the week prior, production stood at 1.675m st at an average capability utilisation of 70.1%.
