US raw steel production inches up

US raw steel production ticked up slightly in the week ended September 19 but fell significantly from last year, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute. US production totaled 1.706m st last week at an average capability utilisation of 71.4%, up 0.7% from last week’s 1.694m st at 70.9% capability utilisation.
